Mandatory Stage I Water Conservation

April 22, 2021

Re: Mandatory Stage I Rationing with Restrictions to ONCE a Week Outside Watering is in Effect until Further Notice:

Effective April 22, 2021:

Sturdivant Progress WSC has implemented Stage I of the District’s Drought Contingency Plan due to the District’s water consumption and capacity exceeding 85% of the daily maximum supply. The District’s goal is to reach a20% reduction in total use. It is very crucial that these guidelines be followed to keep from going into Stage II; where all irrigation and outside watering is prohibited.

The water conservation measures to be implemented are as follows:

  • Initiate mandatory conservation measures, where possible.

  • All “non-essential water use” shall be PROHIBITED between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

“Non-essential water use” is defined as washing windows, siding, eaves and roofs of buildings; washing driveways, streets, curbs and gutters; vehicle washing; unattended irrigation or sprinkler lawn watering of landscaping, shrubs and grass; draining and filling swimming pools; and flushing water systems.

Handheld hose watering of landscaping, shrubs and grass is permissible subject to the “time-of-day” restrictions established herein.

  • Unattended irrigation or sprinkler lawn watering is permitted only ONCE a week on your designated day and is NOT allowed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. according to the last digit of your street address.

0 and 1: Monday                     2 and 3: Tuesday                     4 and 5: Wednesday

6 and 7: Thursday        8 and 9: Friday

No outside watering on Saturday or Sunday OR between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Stage I Outside Residential Water Use Enforcement Policy:

1stViolation-The member will be notified by a written notice of their specific violation. Excessive water users could face a rate increase.

2ndViolation -Installation of a flow restricting device in the customer’s service line to limit the amount of water through the meter in a 24-hourperiod.

Subsequent Violations -The District may terminate service for up to 7 days and charge for the service call to restore service.
