City Response:
CITY OF MINERAL WELLS
UPDATE FROM THE CITY OF MINERAL WELLS PUBLIC WORKS TEAM:
TEMPORARY CHANGE IN WATER SMELL
We are aware that some residents have noticed a temporary change in the smell of the City's water
supply following the recent cold rainfall and temperature fluctuations. These weather changes can
cause a natural "lake turnover," which brings nutrients from the bottom of the lake up into the
water treatment process and treatment facility.
While the change in smell may be noticeable, please know this is only a temporary aesthetic issue
and does not impact water quality or safety. Our treatment processes and procedures remain
unchanged, and disinfectant testing continues to show normal residual ranges throughout the system.
The water remains safe to drink and use as normal.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as these seasonal environmental conditions work
their way
through the system.
The odor and taste seems to originate from the water purchased from the City of Mineral Wells.
Another Co-Op spoke to Scott McKennon director of public works in Mineral Wells. He said thank you for bringing this to the city’s attention. They will look into the issues.
Sturdivant Progress WSC will update as we receive information.
